As this is the first post of the Inspired blog—insert crazy, happy, and terrified picture of me dancing around—I want to discuss what I mean by my tagline, “Be inspired. Go forth. Create your day.”
Every morning we have the opportunity to decide how we want our day to be. It doesn’t require the perfect morning routine, all it takes is a thought. I like to give my day an intention. This idea solidified when I was listening to Gretchen Rubin’s podcast, Happier. (Highly recommend-see Resources tab!) To find inspiration, sometimes I flip to a page in a book and whatever I read becomes the tether for my day. Other times I choose a mindset, like gratitude, or a motto—Go forth! Sometimes I pick a color and try to notice all the places I see it during the day.
If you give your day a tiny bit of structure, it tends to unfold in a positive way. At the very least, it’s not just another day filled with obligations and to-do lists. What gradually happens is you find yourself adding more intentionality into every moment of your life. You become the creator. Trite, but true!
You can set your intention at any moment. In the morning…The night before…When you are about to fall asleep at your desk. To get an inspiration, just open the Inspired blog, check out the post, and make a shift. Create the day you want.
Today’s inspiration: Rose (see photo)
How to use it: What appeals to you most? The color? The smell? The beauty? Pick one thing and decide to influence your day with that thought.
Example: I love the bright yellow color of this rose. It reminds me of sunshine and life. I say to myself, “Today, I will view my day through a lens of sunshine.”
- Without the lens…Water the plants: “This is such a pain. I have other things to do.” Go into the office: “How am I ever going to get everything done?”
- With the lens…Water the plants: “It’s miraculous how plants turn sunlight into food.” Go into the office and smile as I open the blinds and let in the light.
Give it a try. You have the power to create your perfect day! Don’t we all want to be magic?
“Every thought we think is creating our future.” -Louise Hay (See Resources tab!)

So good! So good!
After reading your post, I just restarted my day at 4pm and added a little magic as I enjoy my last night with family and friends in Santa Barbara to visit my uncle and then head to a scrumptious meal.
How do I subscribe?
You inspire me!
I’m so excited to follow along ◡̈
Thank you for this! My intention today is movement. Inspired by the squirrel outside my window that is VERY busy digging up my backyard trying to build his nest and running back and forth up a tree. I have spent too many of the past few weeks sitting behind my desk, sitting on a plane, too much sitting. Great blog. keep ’em coming!
