Unbind Your Day

“The opposite of a profound truth is also true.” –Gretchen Rubin

Question: Where do you look for Truth if the truth and the opposite of truth are both true?

Answer: INSIDE

“When we are in balance, we can be comfortable with stillness and change at the same time.” – Brett Larkin

Only you know the truth. Our individual truths combine to create Universal Truth. It’s all true, and it’s all not true. It’s all real, and it’s all an illusion.

Today’s inspiration: Are you sure?

How to use it: As you move through your day, think about what you consider to be true. Ask yourself if the opposite is also true. If we challenge our assumptions, we balance our brains.

Example: You spill syrup and immediately think, “I’m so clumsy.” Is that true? Are you clumsy or did you just spill? Is the opposite true? Can you be deliberate? What truth exists in this moment? Were you rushing? Were you distracted? Could the spill have been prevented? If you ask questions, you will gain clarity, rather than remaining stuck in a reality of being clumsy. (See post: Stories)

Continued: Because you had to wipe up the syrup, you think, “I need to hurry or I’m going to be late.” Is the opposite true? “I better slow down so I can be on time.” If you had moved more slowly, would you have spilled the syrup? Who knows. Force yourself to consider the possibility of the opposite truth. Move slowly and mindfully and see if time moves more slowly. Be the skeptic scientist who does the experiment anyway.

Challenge your assumptions. Break the rules. Unbind your day.

And then…

Be inspired. Go forth. Create your day.

“Breaking the rules is one form of courage. Ignoring them completely is another. What is certain is that questioning them is a necessity.” –Hanya Yanagihara
