“Yoga is the process of learning how to love your body just the way it is.” Katchie Ananda, International Yoga and Dharma Teacher @KatchieAnandaYogaAndDharma
Katchie was my teacher at a retreat at Esalen last year. Her spirit is infectious, and I’m so grateful to have met her.
In our yoga sessions, Katchie talked about our “creature bodies,” and encouraged us to love and care for ourselves, just as we would care for any small creature. This idea really resonated with me, and I often use the visualization if I’m feeling overly driven or critical of myself. Thinking of my creature body makes me laugh and feel kind. We’re all spirits walking around the world in creature bodies.
If you have a few minutes, watch this video where Katchie talks about yoga and our creature bodies.
Today’s Inspiration: Yoga
How to use it:
- If you have decided yoga isn’t for you, take a minute to consider the quote above. There are many different approaches and styles of yoga. Even if some of them don’t resonate with you, I’d be surprised if there’s nothing out there that fits. There’s a reason yoga has been around for 5,000 years!
- If you already practice yoga, consider creating a daily practice. I speak from personal experience—it’s a life-changer.
- If you practice yoga regularly, consider trying a new style, or incorporating meditation or journaling into your practice.
