Lately, I’ve made a conscious effort to pay more attention to my inner child. I’ve noticed that when I feel angry or sad, I’m usually ignoring my inner child or dragging her along while I take care of tasks. I’ve also noticed that she’s brilliant at helping me tap into my body wisdom.
Today I planned to write a post and I could hear my 5-year-old self saying, “Can’t we just play?” Now that sounds like an excellent idea, but since I know I’ll be happy when I accomplish my goal, I asked her if she’d like to write the post. She’s all in.
And no surprise, it’s about being magic.
Often in my posts, I use references and examples in an attempt to sway the reader towards a more magical way of thinking, like linear proof that the answers are non-linear! But today, my 5-year-old self is at the keyboard so I’m going to let her lead the way.
- Your body is magic.
- Your body holds all the information you need to make every important decision in your life.
- The way to access your secret magic is to pay attention to your body.
- Let your body guide your decisions.
If you’re thinking that only a 5-year-old would tell you to let your body guide your decisions, it’s because we are taught from such a young age to trust outside information over our own…listen to the doctor, your parents, your teachers. I agree 100% with my young self, your body knows what you need. The key is paying attention!
- Notice what food makes you feel energetic.
- Notice what food makes you feel tired.
- Notice how and where your thoughts make you feel.
- Notice what parts of your body feel comfortable.
- Notice where you feel discomfort.
Try this:
- Make an effort to consciously trust what your body wants. Keep track of when you choose to trust yourself. You can use this sheet to help you. Try keeping track for a week and see what patterns you notice.
I promise, no matter who you are or how messed up you think your body is, your body holds all of your answers. You have everything you need right now. You’re perfect just as you are. I know this to be true. Unconditionally.
