In Monday’s post, Plotless, I encouraged you to approach situations this week without applying any backstory…
Phone call example…Let the situation create its own story:
-
- Focus on this exact moment.
- State what you are doing: I am calling this person.
- State the duration of your activity: I am allowing ten minutes for this call.
- State the purpose of your activity: I need this person to answer a question.
- Enter into a state of neutrality and trust: Say to yourself, “This call will go just as it should for all things to unfold in the most beneficial manner for all.”
Later that day, I received this text from my sister:
Focusing on that exact moment, I called Nikki. I allowed unlimited minutes for this call. I needed her to answer a question about when we get to see each other again. I said to myself, “This call will go just as it should for all things to unfold in the most beneficial manner for all.” I got her voicemail. (Crying laughing emoji)
I laugh out loud every time I think of this text. We have since talked and she has been on my mind constantly all week. A visit is eminent because I can’t stop thinking about her. See how the call went just as it should for all things to unfold in the most beneficial manner for all?
