I love the saying, “We teach what we need to learn,” and I have decided to embrace this theory. I believe we are all connected, so writing for myself is the same as writing for the world.
Right now I’m in the process of analyzing the patterns of my posts. What do they tell me? No firm conclusions yet, but it’s a fun experiment. I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, I hope you are entertained and inspired by my musings.
I keep a daily list of my activities so I can fact-check my brain. For example, someone asks, “Do you go to the gym?” I reply, “Yes, I love going to the gym.” In my brain I go to the gym twice a week, but when I look at my log, I see I have been three times in the entire month. Hmmm…Now that I have the facts, I need make a shift if I wish this mental reality to become a physical reality.
For fun: Try keeping a list of your habits for one month. This idea comes from the You Are A Badass Planner created by Jen Sincero, the OG Badass. Link below.
She lists the days of the month across the top, and leaves blank rows for you to fill in the habits you wish to create or maintain. I turned this into a spreadsheet you can download here!
Example: One of my resolutions was to read for 30 minutes every day. I kept a log for January and realized I had only read three days out of the whole month. If I hadn’t kept a written record, I would have guessed that I read at least every other day. The power of wishful thinking!
I decided that reading was important to me so I moved this habit to the beginning of my day. So far this month, I have read almost every single day. It makes me so happy.
It’s not about checking off the box, it’s about adding value to my life and taking care of myself. So, cheers to me! And to you! Give it a try!
Be inspired. Go forth. Create your day.
