Nourish

Gratitude…Family…Friends…Food…

These are seriously loaded words that have the power to drain or sustain.

I think the key to a peaceful holiday is a good mantra. I love the word NOURISH. It is my mantra this holiday season. My goal is to nourish myself and others in all things I do.

Helpful ideas from the word NOURISH…

No time like the present. These people might make you crazy, but tomorrow is promised to no one. It’s a great time to tell someone how you feel.

One love. We are all connected. Everyone wants the same thing you want—to be loved, noticed, and needed. Remind yourself of this when someone’s conversation is making you roll your eyes.

Unnecessary. Feeling frustrated? Ask yourself if what you are doing is really necessary. If not, let it go! If you feel it’s a must-do, see the next letter, R.

Recognize. Why am I doing this? If you recognize you are doing something because it is expected of you and you have agreed to do it, the recognition alone gives you energy. Let go of the story, focus on the fact you agreed to do it, and GET ER DONE. Or…see the previous letter, U!

I love myself. When you are eating delicious food, do it with love. Think about the effort that went into preparing it. Think about how yummy it is. If you are feeling bad about putting it in your mouth, take a minute to acknowledge that feeling. If you want to eat something, eat it, and be grateful. Let the food nourish you. Try to make eating an act of love.

Share. Share your love, your compliments, your ideas. And share the work—meaning, let people help you!

Heave ho. If you find yourself getting lost in thoughts of overwhelm, irritation, or excess calories, STOP. Think of something you are grateful for, then let that shit go!

I wish you a Thanksgiving where you feel grateful for yourself, those you love, and those you don’t.

Nourish yourself with food, love, laughter, friendship, acceptance, and forgiveness.

Be inspired. Go forth. Create your day.
