The Best Accessory

It’s Fashion Friday—time to break out your most fabulous accessory.

A good wardrobe piece should have the following qualities:

  • Totally unique
  • Goes with everything
  • Never goes out of style
  • Always clean, fresh, and ready to wear
  • Affordable

The good news is we all own an accessory that checks every box. You guessed it—your smile. (Does a song from Brownies come to mind? Sorry.)

Your smile is a wardrobe miracle…

  • Hate your outfit? Add a smile.
  • Pants too tight? Add a smile.
  • Bad hair day? Add a smile.

It has been scientifically proven that smiling increases our endorphins. You will feel better, and so will others around you.

Like an apology (see yesterday’s post: I’m Sorry), a smile with a solid intention behind it can fix most anything.

  • Cut someone off in traffic? Smile and wave.
  • Grocery clerk is rude to you? Smile.
  • Walking by someone you don’t know? Smile.

Today, see if you can smile ten different times. Smiling at yourself in the mirror and smiling to yourself both count. Keep track on a notepad or in your phone.

When our smiling muscles contract, they fire a signal back to the brain, stimulating our reward system…when our brain feels happy, we smile; when we smile, our brain feels happier. –What’s the science behind a smile?

I smile all the time, and eventually people usually smile back. It is the easiest way to make yourself feel happier. The more you do it, the more natural it feels.

Try it on. I know it will look great on you!

Be inspired. Go forth. Create your day.
