Just For Fun

SUDOKU WEEK – WEDNESDAY

Wednesday is aligned with the solar plexus chakra and is a powerful day for manifestation. (See post: I Got It) I propose that creating your day with a sudoku puzzle in mind can be powerful, or at least entertaining.

The goal of sudoku is to is to fill a 9×9 grid with numbers so that each row, column and 3×3 section contain all of the digits between 1 and 9. The difficulty of the puzzle depends on which numbers you are given to start. Each time you find a new number, it helps you find the next number.

We can use this as a metaphor for our personal growth. On any given day, we have blank squares that need to be filled in. What we fill in depends on the numbers we already see. Sometimes the next number is obvious, other times we can’t figure out a single square.

What do we do when we aren’t able figure out any squares?

  1. Guess and hope it won’t mess up the puzzle.
  2. Keep looking until we see an answer.
  3. Set it aside, and come back to it later.
  4. Toss it, and start another puzzle.

It doesn’t matter which option you choose. The puzzle itself is part of a puzzle. It’s the puzzling and choosing that leads to growth.

If you approach sudoku with a conquer mindset, it leads to victory or defeat. If you approach sudoku with a playful mindset, it’s fun, no matter what.

  • Sometimes I guess and see how far I can go.
  • Sometimes I fill in a couple of numbers and decide that’s good for today.
  • Sometimes I finish a puzzle and think, “Sweet!”

When I get caught up in the desire to accomplish, finish, improve, and grow, I reset by remembering it’s just a game and we’re supposed to have fun.

I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy…People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they’re not on your road doesn’t mean they’ve gotten lost. ― Dalai Lama

Be inspired. Go forth. Create your day.
